uncap your modem for 16 MB bandwidth, free.
« on: September 25, 2008, 01:38:55 AM »
if your interested in uncapping your modem and getting a 16 meg connection, send me a PM.
the version of your modem must be DOCSIS 2.0 to receive a 16 meg connection. if it is DOCSIS 1.0 you will not be able to get over 5 or so.
- you must live in the united states
- include MAC RF 00.XX.XX.XX.XX  number on the bottom of your modem in the PM
- include the company that provides your high speed internet.

ditto, thats what i was thinking. Blue any word if they can track this?
A story. A man fires a rifle for many years. and he goes to war. And afterwards he comes home, and he sees that whatever else he may do with his life - build a house, love a woman, change his son's diaper - he will always remain a jarhead. And all the jarheads killing and dying, they will always be me. We are still in the desert.

no, they cant. the only thing they can do it change the provisioning of the modem back to what it was. it looks like a system error on their side   ;)

most likey you will not get caught so long as you dont uncapp above the fastest package they offer. But you will get reset everytime your modem renews ip or it gets unplugged.

it will only be reset if you call in and they see your provisioning

lol shit happens, the article is old but still

For my ISP:

"High speed Rogers download rate is 1.5Mbps max where their Lite speed is only 128Kbps. The throttling of the bandwidth is done within the modem in your home. When you sign on the model loads a config file from Rogers head end computer. Yes you can load a fake config and remove the throttling known as uncapping, however Rogers is well aware of this practice and considers it theft of their service. They now monitor all connection speeds and will know if you exceeded your speed assigned to your modem. They will let you know by phoning you up and asking to come over to replace the modem. If they suspect you have been tampering with their service they will terminate your service with no recourse to you. Don't bother trying unless you can afford to do without the service."

this got anything to do with Tribal FTP? I tried hacking rogers cable modems with TFTP and setting my computer as a fake server and edit the config file. Didnt work for some reason but it would be nice if it did, I dont think it works in Canada....:S All the modem did was retrieve the config file from the ftp that assigns your ip/etc.

i used the words uncapping because it would be more widely recognized. its known as provisioning. im about to remove this post. you can email me at telusfriendly@hotmail.com. the process is known as provisioning.  the system is known for its flaws. i know things, ok. simple. lol

if i were to do this I'd go the MAC clone route instead, and just drop cable internet altogether(still need cable tv). That way it can't be traced back.
