a new pc would be nice.. but even if he got like a 7900.. or 8600 or something that would help a lot.. and another 512 ram ($20 or so)

I love to do the mods by myself rather than buying everything from the market. My case is worth about $10 and I cut a window in it myself with chisel and hammer lol

First of all my specs:

CPU:         AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (@ 2.5GHz)
CPU Cooler:      Thermaltake Sonic Tower
RAM:         Corsair XMS 4000PT 2GB DDR500
Motherboard:   Gigabyte K8NF-9 Rev 1.xx
Video Card:      XFX 7900GS 256MB PCI-E (650/1700)
Hard Drive 1:      80GB WD in Raid 0                            \
Hard Drive 2:       80GB WD in Raid 0                            |    packed in one unit (using door mount) which can be easily taken from the
Hard Drive 3:      250GB WD                                       |   computer in case of a fire or some shit
Hard Drive 4:      500GB Seagate                                /
Speakers:      Logitech x530
Internet:      7Mbps / 400kbps

a) the 7900GS with OCZ ramsinks so I can push it to the limits (650/1700MHz from 550/1400MHz)

c) zalman vf-700 alcu cooler
d) my mammoth cooler (thermaltake sonic tower) lapped to 2000 grit

Here is a picture of my X2 3800 socket 939 lapped to 2000grit and OCed@ 2.5 GHz

No seriously.. The lag only appears in the match server.. In normal servers i play normal just having some lag spikes sometimes..

I got the grit paper from canadian tire in the car paint section. I used my smooth table surface to lap it down... took me around 4 hours its seriously tiring work :(

i would not have the patience.. id just do 600 for a  little while then maybe a 30 mins of 2000 or somethign.
