Recommend a CPU / MoBo

Hey guys.
I suspect my Abit KN8 ultra crapped out a couple of days ago (fkn noobs jinxed it with moronic accusations of cheating).

Anyway, in order to get back and scalp them I need a new rig which must feature 2 sata raid (4 drives mirrored in pairs) and must be reasonably priced (I would like to slide below $300). The Mobo must be rock solid, the CPU might be upgraded at a later time.

What would you go for?

asus p5q pro + e8400/e8500

ram- any mushkin hp/redlines/ascents

ichr9 (p35) or ichr10 (p45) for raid, do not ever get an nvidia board for raid

Thanks man, that was my conclusion too, only with the p5k. Heard horrible stories about the sata placements with long GFX. My 8600gts is quite hugish so i had concerns..

For the record: never had an issue with nvidia RAID in 3 years of continuous mirrored use, but I was quite pissed when the bridge fan died and the mobo seized up. Loved Abit until a few days ago.

Still might need a KN8 mobo for a while (if any of you has a SLI or ULTRA for sale), but only if my CPU and RAM are still alive.. will find out soon. No friends of mine have Socket 939 so I have to take it to "specialists" (ye gods..). Fkn thing still lights up the red led but nothing turns on.. where the fk are the days when things fkn beeped to me to tell me if they fkn work or not?! Fkn technology is fkn useless, should have stuck with freaking abacus and colored pebbles.

youll need new ddr2 ram as well. mushkin ftw

I replaced the bridge fan with a Zalmann heatsink so I already violated my warranty. Fkn retarded of me since KN8s have 10 years.

Been out of the loop for a while. Mushkin better than crucial nowadays?

PS: Newegg doesn't have Mushkins @ 1200 (what p5q apparently needs). Are OCZ or Patriot any good?

I agree with werth so far on everything but, Patriot is very good ram. Dont count them out ever. i had 800 ddr2 that would run 1000 all day, any day, low volts to boot!
