OK, I think we're going to switch to Mumble for quite a few reasons. But anyways, here's a walkthrough on how to set it up.

if you dont like the Text To Speech option(how it talks to you letting you know people joined), the options for it are in the Messages section

Solution for: Failure to load mumble_ol.dll
If you are running Windows Operating System, this is due to a outdated DirectX. DirectX is actually updated each and every month, which is why you see every game trying to update your DirectX. So while the version may be 9.0c, what you want to look at is the release date. The latest version may be found at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.mspx

hmm. i did downloaded the new version 1.1.0 but i cant connect to the server with new mumble there is nothing there.There is something about cetification and even if i push YES there is just empty shit no LOBBY,WORK,SCRIM,PUB1 or any else category whatsoever ???

wow I love vista cant believe i installed this POS OS. Wont install mumble, COD4 lags like shit, Explorer Errors out like no other. Hope its just a bad torrent, but there are no others.
Keep getting cant install libdbus-1.dll.. What fun, think its time Ubuntu, aleast i know i can install things on that.

Danny you can use version 1.1.1. Doesnt matter what version the client has. The server is running a nightly build version which isn't on sourceforge so expect an new version there in a few weeks. No you dont need a torrent, the download link should be on that website

I can't find how to disable the Overlay option.
It seems like you need DX9 to use the Overlay option, but maybe because I am running Vista with DX10, it dosen't detect the emulated DX9... Anyways, I have the Overlay and I don't want it, so how do I turn it off ?

settings at the bottom.. click expert config... hit ok... go back into settings... should be overlay tab on the left.. click and uncheck enable overlay.

ive been on mumble and it was only cod4 players talking. and the channels arent very descriptive. I think it should be something like this> CoD2 ( this is a channel in mumble) and instead of pub 1 and pub 2 put something like: Axis: Allies: but i dont see many people on mumble for CoD 2 anyways.

I wish I could join you on mumble server. The only microphone I have is in the eyetoy camera, and that thing is pretty sensible. If I turn my volume down I cant hear the game, if I let it normal you guys would hear the game on mumble.
If you can think of an awesome solution ill join ya on the mumble server.

why dont you just set a button to talk instead of activated by sound that way we dont hear every sound.

open mumble, configure> settings and check the box "expert config" > Under basic audio in the transmit drop down box select push to talk> go to shortcuts and set a key for it.

that doesn't help noob... and yes I do get crazy cpu on 1.1.2 and I have to restart it every hour or so but can't do anything but live with it because voice activation > cpu usage

Yeah...it seems as though not many ppl are playing and using this. When I ask other nobs ppl if they want to use mumble while playing in the server, the majority of the replies are, "no mic, sorry." WTF? Come on.......its really really fun with team speak!!!
