Title: help!!!!!!!!!!
Post by: werth on October 03, 2007, 05:46:22 PM
ok heres the scenario..

-vid card has dual dvi output
-old monitor was vga--used a converter thing

1)new monitor.. dvi unplugged the old monitor, and the power and when i was pluggin in the new one i accidentally unplugged the power to the comp
2) monitor wont show anything now with either monitor!!!!! tried both, both ports, diff shit i dont get anything
3) im actually using the comp right now via logmein so theres nothing wrong with the comp.. so is this my vid card? I open device manager says its working fine..

How can i check if the vid card is working properly and if this is the fuckin piece of shit thats pissing me off now.

ps. i dont have another pci-e to try :(

Reply is usually simple..

1. What is the refresh rate of your old monitor.. I assume probably a CRT and thus 75hz or more..
2. What is the refresh rate of your new monitor.. I assume probably a LCD and thus 60hz..

This is at least the issues we had at work when we switched over to LCD's... people though you could just unplug and replug.. You can't. Use your old monitor and change the refresh to 60hz, then plug in your LCD and you should see..

* All of the above are made on assumptions *

my LCD runs 75hz. also he said neither monitor works now. so ya...

if your new monitor has a vga cable, try using that. i had issues getting dvi to work out of the box with my monitors

their both lcd's and neither worked, and i didnt change any settings.. what makes this hard to troubleshoot is
1) lg fuckin forgot the dvi cable, and 2) i dont have a second pci-e card

good news tho, I changed the vga cable and it works... go figure... how the fuck does a vga cable fry after the power cuts out.. thanks anyway

do not buy a prefab WC setup

you want a nice pump, and block, rad dont really matter to much.

I got WC setup :: Apogee Block, MCP-350 Pump, 120mm Radiator
