Title: My new PC!
Post by: heartsfan on October 12, 2007, 08:37:29 PM
Got my new PC on Tuesday, built it, had a bit of teething trouble .... namely:
Went to the shop they had no Samsung 500gb Hard Disks so the guy gave me a Maxtor 500gb.
And I tell you this was louder than the space shuttle at liftoff ..... terrible .... so I took it back and got a Western Digital 400gb instead - it is whisper quiet .... much better! ;D
Only thing is I can't run it in full SATA mode (have to use IDE mode) but I don't care - it is well fast enough anyway. ;)
I will tell you one thing for sure ..... the Quad core Q6600, 2gb RAM and my 8800gts 320mb shits on anything I have thrown at it:
Medal Of Honor: Airborne ..... Full details, 8xS AA and 8x AF no slowdowns at all! Colin McRae DiRT: Full details, 8xS AA and 8x AF no slowdowns at all! SEGA Rally: Full details, 8xS AA and 8x AF no slowdowns at all! World In Conflict: Full details, 8xS AA and 8x AF no slowdowns at all!
I could go on and on .... every game I have tried I can crank everything to the max .... Amazing! :o
I would recommend my new setup to ANYONE! :P

Nah no need too at the moment and I am only running the stock HSF.
CPU Temp: 35c Idle & 50c full load .... lol .... cooler than my old barton 3200+
Although my System/MB temp keeps saying 52c but I think this is wrong as I open the case and it isn't too hot (cooler than my last system and it had a temp of 40c)

I have 2 x 500g of those noisy maxtor's.. yeah, they're noisy.. but when gaming or watching a movie, you don't hear it anyway so I didn't care... :) One day I'll replace it with bigger, quieter drives.. if needed...
Temps are always off by system specs.. they claim my 3.4g dual at full load runs about 62c which is bs.. My case has 120mm cpu fan + 3 120mm fans + 1 80mm fan and the huge 120mm ps fan
