Oh  and the stuff I want to put in the new machine is:

- A C2D e6750 at 2.66 GHZ
- 2GB kingston ram at 800MHz (2x1GB)
- A 8800GT from Asus or a Radeon hd 3870 from asus or saphire.
- A 160gb Disc with SATA II (Probably from Hitachi)
- And finally a 500w powersource from nox or coolermaster

i wouldnt bother gettin a ddr2/3 board. combo boards generally suck.

I've got the P35-DS3R (the non ddr3 one which is like $30 cheaper) and I like it. Wish it had a few more features like firewire and shit but no biggie really.

If combo boards really suck I may be headed to an Abit Mobo like smitty said....

And here the version without the ddr3 stuff is 5

Yes, please elaborate on that one.  I'm amazed by the number of people that think Vista is a steaming pile of OS ass, but at the same time are madly in love with Windows XP. Vista is not a huge embankment from XP. One of Vista's biggest complaints at the time of release was that it did not establish itself as a revolutionary Windows OS. Vista requires a little more hardware overhead to run, but if you are madly in love with XP you will probably like Vista's nuances. The correct assumption is that if you have XP you do not need Vista at this point. That is true. However, if you love XP you shouldn't hate Vista, unless you are A) a retard or B) conforming to the Vista-bashing trend, because it's cool and makes you look like a giant tool.

talkin to kuato.. but yea you too :P... and vista is more secure.. and vista sp1 is out VERY soon.. the rc's are already out.. hogs up resources yea.... but 2gb of ddr2-800mhz costs 19.99 and 3.0+ ghz dual cores are under $100 so that argument doesnt fly anymore.. maybe 2 years ago but now vista has bent xp over

Post by: werth on February 07, 2008, 05:30:59 PM
yea i saw in another forum someone put it well.. ill paraphrase in my own words: If you're buying new parts, its a no brainer, vista, granted newer parts are very cheap and all comply with vista... if youve got older parts, then you should look into before hand what will and wont work, and which os is a better choice

Listen, this is crazy, VISTA is better, hands down....

Resource hog? Whens the last time you installed it? When? I have it running on my wifes machine, amd 64 3000+ with 1 gig of ram, and like a 60 gig hd, 8400gs, and dremescene running. Take a wild guess of the resources being used.

Your guess= 50-100%

My FACTS= 9% cpu usage/ 45% ram (of only 1 GIG)

So please wheres the resource hog at?
Title: Re: New computer Specs( in the making..)
Post by: werth on February 10, 2008, 02:16:00 PM
regardless of resources.. what im sayin is... it costs $19.99 for 2gb ram 800mhz.... $100 for a 3.0 ghz dual core cpu..... times change.. same way that a windows 98 was a resource hog compared to 95....

MY old could not run it smoothly, even after 512mb upgrade ( it had 512, 512+512 = 1gb...). Therefore my resource hog.... Even without the sidebar and stuff
Still I won
