Title: pc wont boot :o
Post by: werth on March 19, 2008, 09:58:44 AM
i would xfire you guys, but im at work, and i dont have remote today.. quick sum of things:

1. sold e8400
2. stole e6750 from bro
3. lapped hs (looks sexy) installed cpu w/ paste, isntalled hs
4. turned on, boots for 5 seconds, and reboots, keeps doin that, nothing on screen\
5. cleared cmos, took out batt. for 2 mins same thing

thoughts. 1. i didnt reset the bios, so its still set to 4ghz... shouldnt it revert to default if its detects new chip? 2. overheating maybe? dont know why it would but im usually good with seating chips/heat sinks.. i could try again, kuato suggested maybe some paste on one of the contacts dunno

any ideas?

Wont post eh?
1. Reseat the memory
2. Check and see if all jumpers are correct. Master/slave (sometimes both Cable select)
3. Turn off automatic restart in the bios, if your getting a BSOD it will give you time to read/write down the problem.
4. Is the powersuppy capable of powering your rig
5. Strip the computer down to bare bones, slowly add parts to troubleshoot where the problem is comming from
6. Kick it in the nuts
