The performance different is close to none unless you get a product saying "OMG BBQ OC VERSION" you won't notice a difference in framerate.
200 bucks is really good for that card so get it :D
Haha, OMG BBQ OC VERSION =P cook your lunch as you play crysis.

ecs is shit generally speaking, but $160... WOW. get it. just make sure there is SOME SORT of warranty. chances are a shitty company such as ecs, if something does go wrong, itll be in the first year, or probably first month. so as long as its got a 1 year youre cool. also, a year from now, that card will be worth ~$100 street value.

so, do i get it or should i wait for one of the XFX ones to go on sale, it says under newegg's standard return policy:return for replacement within 1 year. but i dont want a $160 brick if this card goes south after 1 1/2 years. XFX has lifetime warranty. im thinking about holding out a bit longer and see how much cheaper these cards will get. what do you guys think?

in 1 1/2 years the 8800gts 512 will be worth around 80-100 anyway. just get it.

heres the website for warranty info, it says VGA cards with Nvidia chipset have a warranty of 36months parts and 24 months parts and labor. thats pretty good right? also, i cant seem to find the cards Core, memory, and shader clocks anywhere. I wonder why ECS is hiding this information.

=D i cant wait to test this puppy. it should be here friday. i was abit skeptical about the price and the company but i heard that they are all made by nvidia anyways, this is just a reseller. and they are based out of miami, thats where i live. so if it craps out on me ill just light their headquarters on fire.

i was talking to some people and they were saying that my E2180 would bottleneck my CPU, do you guys think it could be that big of a bottleneck? my e2180 has a conroe core and is overclocked to 2.8ghz.

meh at stock maybe at 2.8 it should be fine. maybe a SMALL bottleneck nothing to worry about. its all about the gpu nowadays as long as you have a semi-decent cpu which you do.

just to make sure touch the card, if you end up with 1st degree burns then there is something wrong
i use this method on all my components

also, there is this faint high pitch squeel when i play graphically intensive games. is that normal?
Title: Re: 8800 GTS G92 MSI
Post by: pcgamer on June 17, 2008, 11:54:15 PM
yeah its normal for some stock coolers... they blow ... i never kept a stock cooler on any of my cards (fx5200, 6600GT, 7900GS, 8800GT)

i would like to change it too but it voids the warranty >_< ill just have to wait until 2 years is up. keeps it cool though, 45C idle 58c load

lol warranty .. if anything happens just put the cooler back on and send it back but honestly its sooo easy to mount a vcard cooler I mean i've installed over 20 custom coolers on video cards for friends and mine etc. and never had a problem
a quick solution: try slowing the fan speed down through ntune

it only has a high pitch squeel during games, i read somewhere about squeeling capicitors. i dont really care if i have a squeeling capicitor or not because the noise doesnt bother me, i just want to know if this is a serious problem with the card or not.

probably squealing capacitors yea. did you get the ecs card? probably why.

is a squeeling capicitor bad for the card? i dont care if it makes a bit of noise as long as it doesnt explode.
