I got a Core 2 Quad X6850. and my computer has been shutting down randomly. I'ts been driving me nuts. Any thoughts?

sounds like your motherboard isnt playing nice with your new CPU. have you considered a BIOS flash? see if your motherboard maker has released a new BIOS update and then see if it will support the CPU you are using. although tread cautiously, BIOS flashing can brick your board.

hmm i havent updated the bios..not a bad idea. and it might be a Heat issue. i accidentally broke my new Heatsink(the stock ones are always piece of shits) and its not completly on there. not to mention i couldnt find my thermal paste and theres not much on the processor. ill flash the bios and get a bigger heatsink just to make sure.

im gonna pick some thermal compound up tonight and then re-try it...for now im using my Fail E6300. lol
