Title: Q6600 Overclock.
Post by: DriveRaider on July 21, 2008, 07:37:41 PM
Hey guys, I need to seek some advice on the OC of a Q6600. I have a G0 revision stepping B . here is a screen of CPU Z  http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/4020/82720929ss3.jpg (http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/4020/82720929ss3.jpg) . I was able to OC it to 2.7 ghz with a 1,200 mhz FSB and Vcore on auto (it says 1.312v on CPU-z). so my problem is this, when i attempt to go beyond 1200 mhz my computer hard locks on the Asus BIOS logo. how would you guys get 3.0 ghz+ stable with your Quads? a list of items or ideas to start tweaking would be great. Ram settings, NB or SB frequencies. anything at this point would be helpful. my rig includes a Asus p5n-e SLI motherboard, Corsair 800 mhz ram set at 4-4-4-12 2T timings, 8800 GTS 512mb, zalman CNPS 9700, 500 watt OCZ PSU. anyone got any suggestions? thanks in advance!

nvm, i answered my own question. never buy a P5n-e SLI board because they are shit to OC.

you gotta increase the vcore to get over 2.7

i did, it locks up. apparently the P5n-e SLI doesnt overclock quads very well. i googled it and found alot of people having the same problems on forums

really any older sli boards dont overclock well on any chip.  i used to have a p5n32 sli se deluxe and couldnt even get my e6400 to 2.8
