Title: 1 modem/2 routers/ 2 rooms
Post by: NoBS|Thirsty on December 05, 2010, 08:48:59 AM
OK heres my problem. My modem/router in my bedroom has a built in router with 4 ports. 1 for the womans comp, 1 for my digital tv, 1 for my xbox and the last one for the router in the living room. The router in the living room has the WAN port for a feed for the internet right. Then there are 4 ports on it as well. 1 for my streaming computer, and 1 for the womans xbox.
Everything is online right now, 2 xboxes and 2 comps. I can stream to the xbox in the living room but not in the bedroom. If i unplug the internet connection i have going in the the router in the living room, and just plug it into a port, I can then stream to both xboxes but my computer dont have the internet then on my computer.
If its plugged into the WAN port, i cannot stream to both xboxes. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this so I can stream to both and be online???

Wow fuckin modems. I get up today, everything is down. No internet, xboxes are offline/cant stream to either one and no digital TV. Come home and everything is fixed. Both boxs are online and streaming, both comps are online and TV works All my ports are opened even. Didnt do a thing but i like it....

if it works now dont touch it :-)
but if you get probs both dhcp and upnp should be disabled
also some routers has an option to work as a switch only (not all though)

to help Thirsty out by provoking creative thoughts to help solve his problem, is it weird that when i saw 1 modem 2 routers on the main page i instantly thought this thread would have something like a 2 girls one cup style video? Needless to say i was dissapointed.
