Im helping my friend build a computer and i just wanted to pass the specs by you guys for compatability and stabilty. his budget is $800 and it will come out to about $795 after rebates. Here are the parts that I am planning on getting him.

I am a bit Iffy about the quad core. ive been doing some research and ive been finding out that the newer quads have a higher VID , such as mine which is 1.312v. This limits the max overclock you can get with these chips. Im just curious if you can achieve higher overclocks with this VID even though you may have to increase Vcore more to reach stable.

what you mean by dont worry about the new Q6600 as in, dont worry about its VID or dont worry about getting the new Q6600?

dont worry about it, buy it, its fine. personally i would get an e8400 as i think two cores is plenty at 4ghz guaranteed for cheaper.. but if he wants a quad the q6600 is fine

also a really good cheaper overclocking board is the p5k.  that is what i am using and it will take e8400 and q6600

really e8400 is not much cheaper than q6600 (or at least not at newegg.com)
