I got win7 and it works umu..

Well it lets you xfire ppl ingame.. but cant connect to servers using the xfire button..

Btw you have to do this everytime xfires does updates and game updates.. like today.. everyone will ahve to do the whole process again

there is also an option when you use it the first time to auto re-patch when xfire updates!!!

Uto patcher didnt worked for me nor it did for evil.. you will still need to search the game in xfire options..

For Windows 7 / Windows Vista users:
Click ''Start'', then in the blank Run field type: %programdata%. A windows should pop up. Find and open the "Xfire" folder. After you open the Xfire folder, find "xfire_game" file and open it (It's an .ini file).

Okay, once we've located the "xfire_games" file, we can proceed with the tutorial.

Open up the "xfire_games" file. Press "CTRL + F". A window will pop up. Search for "Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer" (without quotations). It will get you to the MW2 Multiplayer part inside the file. (IF there are more MW2 Multiplayer parts in your "xfire_games" document (like the following one), you will need to tweak every one of them). The MW2 Multiplayer part of the document will look something like this:

What we need to edit/tweak here are these 2 lines:
LauncherExe=steam.exe
DetectExe=SteamApps\*\call of duty modern warfare 2\iw4mp.exe


Change the content of the lines into the following depending on if you start your Modern Warfare 2 through an .exe file or a .dat file. In my case, I'm using the .dat so I'll change the lines to the following:
LauncherExe=iw4mp.dat
DetectExe=iw4mp.dat


If you are not sure wether you use .dat or .exe extinction, just run your game, do CTRL + Alt + DEL, go to "Processes" tab and find your iw4mp process and see if its .dat or .exe.
Once you are done with tweaking the "xfire_games" file, save the file.

Once you are done saving your file, completely Restart/EXIT your Xfire (not just log off). Then start it again. Go to Options > Games and see if Modern Warfare 2 is detected. If it's not, you will have to manually detect the game. Expand the "Not Installed" games list, and find Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer there. Click it, then on the right side click on "Manual Detect", and browse for your iw4mp file inside your Modern Warfare 2 directory. Once you are done with detecting, click apply and you are done.

You may also want to backup this "xfire_games.ini" file because Xfire does updates at times, so the update will restore your "xfire_games.ini". So then, you will just replace the new "xfire_games.ini" with the old one that you've just backed up.

If you want to detect the Singleplayer too, the steps are pretty much the same, only thing that is different is that you will have to search for the Singleplayer instead of the Multiplayer part in the "xfire_games" file and under "DetectExe=" and "LauncherExe=" you will need to write iw4sp.exe. That's all.
