« on: November 26, 2007, 02:35:31 AM »
Well since there was someone on the server today saying they needed a new card, And everyone got into talking about cards, CPUs, and what not. Heres some reviews on the the new 3800 series from AMD/ATI

Seeing how the 8800 series are so hard to find in stock, and all the price gouging because of that, I think these are the cards to bring some new competition to Nvidia. Maybe nvidia will bump up their production rate now.

All for you Caboose, they look like good reviews to me. ;) And seeing as I have a 3850 in my rig now, and 1 more on the way, And being a Nvidia Fanboy, I can say their pretty damn good. Only thing thats kinda botched right now is the drivers, But what else is new from ATI.

yea i already posted about this.. good review here: http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/3270-his-radeon-hd3870-review-crossfire-performance-preview.html

i have the hd 3870. pretty damn nice card. good features. like mentioned.. the advantage of this over the 8800gt, cheaper, dx 10.1, sm 4.0, cooler, less power, quieter.. sure youll sacrifice a bit of performance, but for over $50 cheaper and in stock.

Looks like a good card and I have a fan going bad on a 7600GT so it looks like I might have to get one of these.

oc enough to beat the 8800gt OC though?
A story. A man fires a rifle for many years. and he goes to war. And afterwards he comes home, and he sees that whatever else he may do with his life - build a house, love a woman, change his son's diaper - he will always remain a jarhead. And all the jarheads killing and dying, they will always be me. We are still in the desert.

oc enough to beat the 8800gt OC though?

keep in mind the cpu has alot to do with the final score (i think).. so e6850 @ 3.4 is not bad... but if someone is using a quad or higher there mark is gonna be more (i think)... and depends on os apparently the 3870 still needs some work with 64bit vista...

but idk, anyone know any 3dmark scores for the 8800gt?
im pretty sure an oc'd 3870 will beat it.
and fyi the thing oc's like MAD, even with stock cooler..

BUT, i put on the duorb, because im a fag, and it looks sweet and temps never go over 45 load
