Hey guyz, I'm wondering, who is going to join/ have been/ is in the army?
I'm thinking after college to go to the army, for repairs of vehicles or something like that.

Was going to join but the wouldnt take me because i have pins in my ankles. WTF kinda shit is that? That should make me better because i cant break/sprain my ankle as easy... But thats the fucking army

If I had a recommendation as I was in the Army....Go the Air Force route.  But hey if you like underfunded branches of the military might I recommend a job as  Chinook Helicopter maintenance.  Just make sure your test scores are high enough.

you're going after college? I doubt you will be doing any real grunt work =p I had joined the Air Force but ended up getting out during school, so i never got to see how the "normal" military life was. Still regret it and debate joining back up

i have been in the Army for five and a half years. if you have a college degree you won't be fixing anything because if your recruiter knows his ass from a hole in ground he won't let you go in as enlisted, but as an officer. i don't know the whole process, but you'll have to go to officer candidate school which is essentially a gentleman's "boot camp" after basic training. if you are serious about it i suggest you get into ROTC while you are in college, it will only help. if you have specific questions, ask away.

Yeah what they said, Except...yes they make more money but when put in a hostile environment out of country where the enlisted get Tax Free Paychecks the Officers still have to pay Taxes...but still ..what they said.

If you are a commissioned officer (other than a commissioned warrant officer), you may exclude your pay according to the rules just discussed. However, the amount of your exclusion is limited to the highest rate of enlisted pay (plus imminent danger/hostile fire pay you received) for each month during any part of which you served in a combat zone or were hospitalized as a result of your service there.

OK OK you just had to go and get all the facts. But still definatly do The Officer route, Warrant Officer no matter what, in the long run you will be happier.  I would prefer to be a Warrant officer if I were still in but alas I have my discharge papers.
