-Change teamkill to be more like AWE for all gametypes(tk killed 3 times then damage goes to yourself after those 3)

this used to be in playercontrol.cfg:

//***************************************************************************************************
//Friendlyfire
//***************************************************************************************************
// friendly fire
// 0 = disabled (default)
// 1 = enabled
// 2 = enabled, reflect damage
// 3 = enabled, share damage
set scr_friendlyfire "1"

EDIT:

ok in server.cfg there is this:

set scr_friendlyfire "0"

try changing that to the number to go along with the code above for the punishment you want. it should work, and we need to give some better instructions again if it does. this is not exactly wht you want, it will reflect the damage instantly without the 3 kill wait period, but in conversation with Patmansan, this is the closest we can get it with what we have.

i THINK we're going to switch to AWE and add stuff from extreme to it. extreme just has too much baggage i think

smitty the following should take care of the custom map download problem.

Okay, as I have mentioned before, the IWD Sum/Mismatch is partially a SYMPTOM of the .csv sound file problem. However, using the Quake 3 filesystem an EXPERIENCED server admin CAN still run 100 custom maps and have EACH map download ONLY as the server loads them (as we were used to in CoD1 and UO).

Here is the problem:

Since the server is causing clients to download EVERY custom map (that contains a .csv file) before the player is joining the server, then that to me suggests that the SERVER is actually referenceing (loading) each custom map's IWD file in on the server and as such causing EVERY custom map's IWD file to be added to the info_string being sent to the players (the string CAUSING the IWD sum/mismatch). This has been verified by me.

When you are running a custom map, you SHOULD only be adding ONE file to the info_string being sent to the players. That extra file should be the one belonging to that map. Sometimes there are cross-references between custom maps when they call for identically-named custom resources such as textures, models, or scripts, but that is truly the mapper's fault and not IWs.

HOWEVER, since EVERY custom map is being 'referenced' (loaded) due to the .csv file in each one, then EVERY custom map is counting against your info_string limit...

worm's 'work-around' solution:
1) COPY (do not REMOVE) the .csv file from each custom map.
2) Combine all the .csv files into ONE IWD file.
3) Name the IWD file such that is comes alphabetically AFTER every custom map on the server.

This will cause the version of the .csv files in the small IWD file to be loaded on the server rather than all the ones from all the different custom maps. This SHOULD prevent you from having to download the custom maps you are not using.

While this will increase your info_string by the ONE .csv IWD file. It will SAVE info_string space if you have more than two custom maps on your server! Rather than sending the info_string for ALL the IWD files of EVERY custom map on the server, you are only sending the currently-loaded custom map's string and the custom .csv IWD string. ALSO, this will make the server work such that players only have to download ONE map at a time (as the server LOADS the map), AND preserves the integrity of the original map IWD file which means the IWD file will be valid across all custom map servers utilizing the same 'unaltered' map IWD file as released from the mapper.

Using this, you can have 100 custom maps on your server, and they will only download AS NEEDED AND you will not run into the IWD sum/mismatch error (assuming the mods you are running are being sparce with info_string space and you dont have too many maps that cross-reference each other).

This STILL needs to be fixed by IW though. The above is intended to be nothing more than a band-aid.

ok well work sometime this week on this, today is mothers day, my wife will prolly get upset if im working on the server today.lol
A story. A man fires a rifle for many years. and he goes to war. And afterwards he comes home, and he sees that whatever else he may do with his life - build a house, love a woman, change his son's diaper - he will always remain a jarhead. And all the jarheads killing and dying, they will always be me. We are still in the desert.
