ok, im no nvidia fan boy, however............

yes the card trumps the 280 in SOME tests(why not all if its so badass?) and beats the 9800 gx2 in some tests. However why would anyone want this card at $500+ when you can get a 9800gx2 @ $285 and get within 20% range of the 4870x2?

Makes no sense, unless you just have money to blow. And no the prices wont drop, because theres nothing to compete with it, why would ATI drop the prices, when there is nothing that can compete with the card?

I would like to see that if I spend $500+ that it beats every card, in every test. ESP for this much hype
A story. A man fires a rifle for many years. and he goes to war. And afterwards he comes home, and he sees that whatever else he may do with his life - build a house, love a woman, change his son's diaper - he will always remain a jarhead. And all the jarheads killing and dying, they will always be me. We are still in the desert.

the card manhandles the 9800gx2 with beta drivers. i will put my faith in the HWC review... look at high res. the gtx 280 >/= 9800gx2 and the 4870x2 just assrapes it at anything over 1920x1200....

oh goddd... the nvidia peanut gallery chimes in :P

ok, here we go. the 9800gx2 is a VERY powerful card.. VERY. equal to the gtx 280 give or take, depending on the game/settings etc. drivers and support have been shaky, as it was with the 7950gx2. its EOL, they're not producing it anymore since they have the GTX series now. they're dumping the stock, and rightfully so. dont get me wrong, I almost bought a 9800gx2 at $275, good deal. Point is, now, its gtx 260/280, hd4850/4870/4870x2... those are the 5 cards now, anything else is old tech.

what is the 4870x2 competing against? the gtx 280.. i read a few of the reviews.. same old. at low res, virtually no difference.. both are bottlenecked by the cpu... as you gradually crank up the res and settings, the 4870x2 gradually pulls away. its MEANT for high res, and unless u have 24 inch + you should NOT buy it.

fact of the matter is, its the TOP card, and a decent price tag.

i know what you mean.  i used to love nvidia, but i will tell you my 4850 blows any nvidia i had out of the water.  this card is great.  looking at getting another one.  what do you guys think i should get first, another card or another mb.  my mb only does 16x\4x crossfire.  i has seen people getting good scores with this though.

i wouldnt go 16/4 CF... although a single 4850 rapes cod4 so i would just stick with that.. unless youre going to be playing something else alot...

lol look at hardwarecanucks CoD4 page. OWNAGE
