the dedi box in Chicago died, there was a hardware failure, Im not sure what piece it was but the company we host through wanted way to much money to have a tech look at it, so I just told them to pull it and ship it back to me. Luckily I never had the DC box shipped back to me, and the owner of the company we host through there had the box at his house waiting on my shipment instructions.

So the DC box will be back online, with new IP's here very soon, @ $120 a month, $40 cheaper than Chicago, and at the rate our donations are going, I think that will help us more in the long run.

Bad news is that DC just got like 18ft of snow and they were not able to get in on friday to install the box, and now we are waiting for the snow to clear so they can get the box installed.

The other bad news is that..... I told the company in chicago to use the money we just paid towards shipping the box back to me since we wouldnt be using any bandwidth etc...

Unfortunately, even in instances of hardware failing in a client's colo system, we cannot provide any type of reimbursement once payment has been received for space, power, and bandwidth associated with colocation service.  To handle shipping equipment back to clients, we estimate shipping costs with FedEx and ship on our FedEx account.  We also include the following fees based on the work involved, handling fees, packaging costs, and to serve as compensation for having to devote a technician to the task at hand:

Handling: $50/u
Packaging: $15/u

We can pass this on to our facilities supervisor in Chicago to make sure we work out billing estimates as soon as possible.
